Pigment based printing process. Printed with the Roland Hexachrome® pigment ink set. Independently tested by the Wilhelm Imaging Research to last 140 years before noticeable fading occurs. Century plus prints are printed on Roland V8 printing systems using 8 different inks. The ink set consists of: 2 different shades of Magenta, two different shades of cyan, yellow, black, orange and green. One of our V8 systems uses an enhanced black ink formulated to give better shadow detail when printing on fine art papers.
The Roland V8 printing system is one of only a handful of systems certified to print true Pantone® Hexachrome® certified colors. The printers are capable of printing a variable dot size at extremely high resolutions.
As with most pigment printers Century Plus prints are printed on specially coated papers and canvas. The coating allows the ink to stay on the top of the paper or canvas and achieve the most color saturation. Century Editions also has the capability to profile these systems in true Hexaxchrome® mode. This is important because other multi-color printing systems without custom profile capability require extensive operator intervention in order to produce acceptable color. An automated profiling system is capable of measuring and color correcting thousands of color reference points in minutes. The result is far superior quality in much less time. The Hexachrome color set along with our true Hexachrome® profiling capability allows our Century Plus prints to have a much larger color gamut than traditional pigment based Giclées.
Century prints are water-resistant but should still be protected when displayed. Canvas prints can be coated for a nominal cost to allow normal stretching or mounting for display. Available in sizes up to 55 by 240 inches.
