Types of Image Capture for Giclee Reproductions
(also known as Artwork Scans, Digital Captures or Art Photography)

Century Editions offers a variety ways to photograph your painting to provide the best possible image capture of your art work. The quality of giclee reproductions is directly related to the quality of the artwork image capture. Excellent quality digital captures can be achieved 90% of the time using our promotional artwork scan or our High Resolution Artwork Scans. Certain types of artwork require special techniques to achieve the best quality giclee reproductions. Century Editions expertise in the digital photography of paintings is an integral part of our giclee printing services.

 

Promotional Artwork Scan (Photography):
Web Resolution image (WEB) in sRGB color space and fits within 800 x 800 pixel envelope, for web use.
Medium Resolution Image (MRes) in AdobeRGB1998 color space and fits within a 2100 x 2100 pixel envelope. Use for advertising and note cards. Includes Hi resolution archive image on CE Archive servers for future giclee printing or purchase.

High Resolution Artwork Scan (Photography):
Image capture fits within 10500 x 12600 (non-interpolated resolution) pixels envelope. Allow for focus and calibration targets. Allow for focus and calibration targets.
Typical High resolution yield is a file from 150-375 MB depending on the aspect ration of the original art. For giclee printing

Extreme Resolution Artwork Scan (Photography):
Image capture fits within 12600 x 17500 pixels (non-interpolated resolution) envelope. Allow for focus and calibration targets.
Typical High resolution yield is a file from 375-630 MB depending on the aspect ration of the original art.
For giclee printing of large originals or odd aspect ratio original art.

3D Promo scan (Photography):
Web Resolution image (WEB) in sRGB color space and fits within 800 x 800 pixel envelope, for web use.
Medium Resolution Image(MRes) in AdobeRGB1998 color space and fits within a 2100 x 2100 pixel envelope. Use for advertising and note cards. Includes high resolution archive image on CE Archive servers for future giclee reproduction or file purchase.

3D High Resolution Artwork Scan (Photography)
Image capture fits within 10500 x 12600 (non-interpolated resolution) pixels envelope. Allow for focus and calibration targets.
Typical High resolution yield is a file from 150-375 MB depending on the aspect ration of the original art.
For giclee printing. Maximum original size for 3D scans 36H x 48W.

Double Shot (Photography)
Original art that incorporates elements that contain interference pigments, reflective paints (gold, silver or opalescent) or reflective objects (sequins mirrors etc) usually require two photographs. The first scan will capture the true image colors and the second to capture details in the reflective objects. Up to 2 additional exposures are included in the surcharge. Not available with Extreme
Resolution or 3D Scans. Multiple files are merged at the time of proofing in order to acheive the best quality giclee prints.
